Every message gets read by a real person. Earl reads them out loud sometimes. Ethel edits his responses before they go out.

Submitting a Recipe for the Cookbook?
Wonderful! Use this same form and please include everything below so Ethel does not have to chase you through town with a clipboard.
- Your recipe title
- Your ingredients — Please include exact measurements and any important can, jar, or package sizes. Tell us whether ingredients are fresh, dried, ground, chopped, softened, cooked, or anything else readers need to know.
- Your directions — Include cooking temperatures, approximate cooking times, pan or pot sizes when important, and how someone can tell when the dish is finished.
- The amount it makes — Tell us approximately how many people it serves or how many cookies, pieces, jars, bowls, or helpings it makes.
- Your name
- Your town and state
- The story behind it — Who taught you? Who requests it every holiday? Who fought over the last piece? Tell us what makes the recipe special to your family.
Please send a genuine family recipe you have personally cooked, written in your own words. Do not copy recipe descriptions or directions from a cookbook, website, magazine, or another creator.
The deadline is September 1, 2026.
Selected recipes and stories will be featured in the cookbook. Everyone who submits a genuine family recipe by the deadline will have their name printed in the back of the book. You do not have to buy anything to submit.
We may email you if we need help understanding a measurement or instruction. Please use an email address you check regularly. If we cannot confirm important missing details, we may be unable to include the recipe.
By submitting, you confirm that you have the right to share the recipe and story. You give Earl & Ethel permission to edit the submission for spelling, clarity, length, formatting, and cookbook consistency, and to publish your name, town, recipe, and story in the cookbook and related promotional materials if selected.
Submitting a recipe does not guarantee that the recipe itself will be selected.
Names are being printed in a real book that families will read, so we reserve the right to decline any name or submission we consider inappropriate.
Ethel has the final say. Earl was informed of this decision after it had already become official.
